The project
Avenue is an independent brand with urban roots. The brief was to accompany a collection with a magazine. I worked on SHADES’ layout and illustration, connecting clothing, portraits and cultural references across sixteen pages.
01
A magazine rather than a catalogue.
The magazine gives the collection a setting. References come from streetwear, zines and underground publishing; portraits and illustration sit beside clothing. That direction extends Avenue’s world into something to browse, with changes in rhythm and scale from one page to the next.
02
SHADES, page by page.
A silhouette, a portrait, an illustration, then a denser spread. Layout varies the distance and weight of images across the magazine’s sequence. The flipbook keeps that sequence, while each page can also be viewed on its own. Photography belongs to Avenue and its authors.
